Cover a distance of 200 miles?
Climb lots of hills on the way totalling almost 19000 feet of ascent?
After completing the Thames Path in 2012 and the Ridgeway Path in 2013, this year I have decided to try something a little more adventerous. On 6th July I will be setting off from St. Bees on the west coast of England and will be following the route of Alfred Wainwright's Coast To Coast Path which traverses the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors before finally arriving in Robin Hoods Bay on the east coast on 18th July.
As tradition dictates, I will have dipped my walking boots in the Irish Sea at St. Bees and will have picked up a pebble to carry to Robin Hoods Bay where I will throw it into the North Sea as I dip my boots once again at the end of my journey. And I hope I might also be carrying with me your good wishes and the thought that I am raising money for Arts Together in the process of trekking across the North of England. You can make your donations via Local Giving here. Thank you.
You may like to follow my progress by viewing my blog - wtnmel.blogspot.co.uk Wifi access permitting and assuming I manage to stay awake long enough, I hope to update it each night with details of my progress.
