Arts group to reach further

A charity that provides elderly and isolated people with art activities is expanding to West Wiltshire and is looking to engage new members and take on more volunteers.

Arts Together, set up in Devizes in 2000, currently has sessions in Devizes, Marlbor-ough and Pewsey, but is now setting up groups in Bradford on Avon, Trowbridge and Corsham.

Manager Karolyne Fudge-Malik said: “Support services for older people are thin on the ground. Arts Together improves health and wellbeing. Attending sessions increase people’s social skills and self esteem. They blossom.”

The new groups will be running at the end of April with Bradford meeting on Wednes-days, Trowbridge on Thursdays and Corsham on Fridays.

Mrs Fudge-Malik said: “We need volunteers for the new groups. They don’t need to be arty but we need people with good social skills and it helps if they have an understanding of older people and their needs. They need to be able to support members so they can do their activities.”
